Obesity in children has reached epidemic levels in the United States. Today, about one in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese. Childhood obesity results from poor nutritional habits combined with a lack of physical activity. These two factors can also put a child at risk for developing pre-diabetes symptoms that could lead to type 2 diabetes.

Diabetes Prevention Activity Guide

This guide is designed to engage students and families with age-appropriate, hands-on activities, and in-school and at-home challenges that get them up and moving. It also provides information about preventing type 2 diabetes in children, along with “teaching tips” for non-teachers who work with children.
